Dr. Joo is an accomplished pianist, collaborative artist, and educator whose career spans solo, chamber, and collaborative performance. She won the gold medal at the Seattle International Piano Competition and received top awards from the Wideman, Chautauqua, Indiana University Concerto, and Seoul National University Concerto Competitions, as well as the Kumho Art Foundation Audition. She was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Stellio Piano Trio, a prizewinner of the Plowman Chamber Music Competition, a semifinalist in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, and a guest artist at the Peninsula Music Festival ChamberFest.

Dr. Joo graduated from Seoul National University, where she was admitted as a top-ranked student and studied with Heesung Joo. At Indiana University, she was appointed Associate Instructor and earned her Master’s degree and Performer Diploma on full scholarship under Arnaldo Cohen. She earned her Doctorate from Northwestern University on full scholarship with program honors, studying with Alan Chow.

As a soloist and collaborative pianist, Dr. Joo has performed with the Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, Bienen String Ensemble, and Evanston Symphony Orchestra, and as a soloist at the Peninsula Music Festival. She has appeared at Chicago Symphony Center’s Orchestra Hall and Ravinia’s Bennett Gordon Hall, as well as throughout the United States, Canada, Korea, China, and Germany. She was selected to represent Northwestern University at the Gilmore Piano Festival and has performed recitals with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Her recent projects include a piano-duet recording with Professor Sojung Lee for the Korean Folk Song Project, Rhythms of Korea.

Dr. Joo currently serves as Applied Piano Faculty and Collaborative Pianist at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ and as an adjunct professor at Central College.
